A Country Christmas
The singer, who brings her tour Down Under next year, has posted a collection of holiday themed photos on her website.
One thing is clear - there's no room for scrooges in country music. Taylor Swift, celebrating her 21st birthday this week, has even opted for a Christmas themed birthday party, commenting on twitter, “Snowflakes are flurrying down outside and it’s my last day of being 20!”.
Whilst Willie Nelson has teamed up with the Sheriff’s department that busted him on a marijuana charge earlier this month to ask fans to donate to the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office’s annual Christmas toy drive.
Country superstar Tim McGraw, also a successful actor, has made his fair share of Christmas movies including a role in the Reese Witherspoon flick Four Christmases. Not to be outdone, McGraw’s wife, Faith Hill spent two years making her 2008 Christmas album Joy to the World, bringing in an orchestra, traditional songs and a new single A Baby Changes Everything.
Then there’s Kenny Rogers, touring Australia next year, who can’t seem to get enough of Christmas. He released his first Christmas album back in 1981 and has performed Christmas tours for nearly 30 years.
The Man In Black, Johnny Cash, was partial to the "silly season". He clocked up six Christmas TV specials with the help of June Carter and mates such as Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Clark and The Statler Brothers.
But this Christmas, if you find the festive spirit starting to slip, try putting that well worn copy of A Smoky Mountain Christmas on the DVD player. The 1986 TV movie directed by Henry "The Fonz" Winkler, stars Dolly Parton as a country music superstar, who re-evaluates her life and career in a friend’s cabin in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains during the Christmas break. Everyone knows that a Dolly Parton sing-along can cure even the biggest Grinch!
