I have chosen songs that most people would know and will sing along with, I have all these song on a driving disc in my car and when I have friends in the car they always ask for this disc.
The Proclamers - 500 Miles
Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
Dixie Chicks - Goodbye Earl
All Saints - Never Ever
Miranda Lambert - Me And Charlie Talking
My suggested mixtape for Catherine and friends includes the following:
Hit the Road Jack as recorded by Ray Charles
Nice to be Here by Shane Nicholson
The First Cut is the Deepest – Cat Stevens - for flat tyre awareness
The Long Way Round by the Dixie Chicks
Fun Fun Fun by the Beach Boys
I think they are all great sing a long songs and include references to the road, friends, enjoying the moment and the beach. The Cat Stevens one is a bit out there but I can still link it in...just.
The mix I would make for the roadtrip would be;
The Road is Still My Home - Slim Dusty
St Kilda to Kings Cross - Paul Kelly
Tear in My beer - Hank Williams
Old Man Emu - John Williamson
Goin' Back Home - Troy Cassar-Daley
Firstly I am gonna assume (or pretend) Catherines friends are country fans, if not they'll have a crap roadtrip!
I chose the first and second songs because of the references to being on the road, the third and fourth songs I chose cos' they are just beaut songs and bloody good fun to sing along to. The last one by Troy Cassar Daley, because the coming home is sometimes better than the being away. .
