ABC Local Radio farewells John Nutting

John Nutting and Felicity Urquhart
Feb 22, 2010 Updated Mar 17, 2010

After 17 years as the voice of Saturday Night Country, one of Australia's most enduring supporters of country music is calling it a day.

Over almost two decades John Nutting has turned a fledgling program aimed at increasing the knowledge and depth of Australian Country music into Australia’s premier music program and the home of country music.

This Saturday (27 February) John Nutting will sit behind the microphone for the last time to present a special edition of Saturday Night Country with new host Felicity Urquhart.

They'll be looking back at program highlights since 1993 and playing tributes recorded by the characters and guests who have contributed to the show.

“It’s been an amazing ride and I’ve loved every minute of my time at the ABC, but it’s simply time move on, fuel up the motor home and hit the road to see more of this great land of ours,” said John.

Golden Guitar winner Felicity Urquhart will be stepping up to the mic as the new host of Saturday Night Country.

The program can be heard from 10pm Saturday to 2am Sunday AEST on ABC Local Radio, and on ABC Country through Digital Radio in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
