Britt nominated for Emmylou Harris tribute song
The Newcastle singer released the song as her second single from her 2010 self titled album which earnt her a nomination for Best Country Album at the 2010 ARIA Awards.
“Sweet Emmylou was written in with my good friend Rory-Lee Feek. At the time I was heartbroken and when we sat down to write I told him I how I was feeling quite low and listening to old records like Emmylou’s to make me feel better because through her sad songs I felt like misery had company. In many respects the song wrote itself. It’s a very special song to me and one of my favourite songs that I have ever written,” says Britt.
The top 3 songwriters will be announced on Friday July 15 with the winner due to receive a prize package worth over $50,000. Second and third place winners each receive cash and prizes valued over $10,000.
