After the success of Jeff Bridges’ Oscar winning turn in Crazy Heart, a number of familiar faces are transforming themselves into down on their luck Country artists. Gwyneth Paltrow plays a Nashville country singer attempting to resurrect her career with the help of husband/manager Tim McGraw in the forthcoming film Country Strong. She previewed the title track on the weekend with backing vocals from Vince Gill and Patty Griffin.

Meanwhile, rumours that Russell Crowe will play the lead in Phillip Noyce’s adaptation of the Tim Winton book Dirt Music is looking likely. During his promotion duties for current film Salt, Noyce confirmed that Rusty is still attached to the project and has been working on songs to contribute to the soundtrack.
