Dixie Chicks release the Hounds
"It was time," explained Emily Robison. “We had been on hiatus from The Dixie Chicks for about a year, I was getting very restless and needed to be creative for my own sanity. And at the same time I was going through my divorce so it was very fertile ground for writing.”
“Emily was just writing and writing all of these deeply personal and truly beautiful songs,” said Maguire. “She was initially going to pitch them to other artists and I kept telling her no, no, you have to save that for you. It’s too good and too personal.”
The Court Yard Hounds - whose sound combines elements of folk, country, rock and Americana - will launch their first album at the South By South West music festival in Austin, Texas, in March before embarking on a tour of North America, Europe and Australia.
The self-titled album is due out on April 30, 2010.

Court Yard Hounds is an American country music and folk duo founded by sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Robison. They, along with Natalie Maines, make up the Dixie Chicks, which went on hiatus in 2008. Maguire and Robison became eager to record again in 2009, but Maines said she didn't feel "inspired" to record yet. The sisters decided to record a side project under a different name. Court Yard...
