Grafton’s country music festival plans
With Grafton’s rich history of country music – Troy Cassar-Daley and The McClymonts have lived there - it might not come as a surprise to learn that a celebration of country music is in the works.
Organiser Bob Vickers, says that if the inaugural Grafton Fair Dinkum Country Music Round-Up gets the go-ahead it is likely to run from November 10 to 13, straight after the Jacaranda Festival. There are plans to feature bush poets, walk-up performers, buskers, with a focus on “traditional” country music.
“I’m an out-and-out traditional country music fan,” he told the Daily Examiner.
“We will only have performers who have live backing and who know their music and lyrics by heart. We also want traditional country not rock country”.
Mr Vickers hopes the festival will include the best bits of some of Australia’s favourite country music festivals.
