Grand Prize win for Kasey Chambers
Chambers was a favourite in the competition, also taking the top spot in the Americana category of the competition with her song 'Devil On Your Back' and second place in the Performance category with 'Little Bird'. 'Beautiful Mess' was the 2nd single from the singer/songwriter's album Little Bird and features Missy Higgins on backing vocals. The song won above 15,000 entries from songwriters all around the world.
Sydney band Jonah's Road took 3rd place in the Country category behind two Nashville entries.
On Kasey's win, Candace Avery, the Founder and Director of ISC, said “Kasey is that rare artist whose beautifully crafted songs cross over into such a wide variety of genres, including Country, Americana, Pop, Folk, and AAA. She has even put out an album of children’s music. But, it is the authenticity and sincerity of her music and lyrics that make her songs resonate so strongly with her fans – and also with the ISC judges. We are proud to have her as the 2010 ISC Grand Prize winner.”
Judges for the competition include iconic musicians Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, Jeff Beck, Robbie Williams, McCoy Tyner, Kelly Clarkson and many more, amongst a range of music industry executives.
