Luke Dickens wins Star Maker

Luke Dickens
Jan 18, 2011 Updated Jan 27, 2011

Former Australian Idol runner-up, Luke Dickens is crowned 2011's Star Maker winner in Tamworth.

The 28 year old was selected from 20 finalists from across Australia in the 32nd Star Maker final. The quest is considered one of the most prestigious country music awards and has been responsible for uncovering some of Australia’s biggest country music talent including Keith Urban, James Blundell  and Lee Kernaghan.

Dickens is said to be “blown away” by the honour. Last year’s winner, Luke Austen, credits his success with winning the 2010 Star Maker. He went on to release his debut album Light of Day, tour extensively and is nominated for four Golden Guitars including Male Artist of the Year for the track 'She’s So You'. His advice to the new winner? Simply to ”be yourself”.
