About

dig Music activity status

My husband and I moved to the small village of Coopernook on the Midnorth Coast, after I began recovering from breast cancer. We decided to get out of the rat race of the Sydney suburbs to a quiet location, and came upon Coopernook quite by chance, & fell in love with it. We moved here 18mths ago and have never regretted it. We have wonderful neighbours & friends in the village, and it has been a very healing experience, living here. I love to listen to the radio on my ipod as I work in the garden and around the house. It's always interesting & entertaining and never fails to brighten my day. I also have an interest in art and belong to the Harrington art group, which while very small is very theraputic and I become totally absorbed in my painting. I also belong to the Upper Lansdowne garden group, the Stockdog Club of NSW, where I practice sheep herding with my two Koolie's (Australian sheep dogs). We unfortunately don't get to participate in this very often now, as it is held in Erskine Park, and most herding activities are held in sheep country. The Midnorth Coast is of course cattle country. I heard about the competition today while listening to 95.5FM as I usually listen to ABC National but thought I would try this for a change and loved it. So thought I'd give songwriting ago, as I love Coopernook, and it deserves some recognition as it has such an interesting history of shipbuilding and timber milling etc. and used to be quite a large and very busy town in years gone by. Hope you enjoy the words to my song, Yours, sincerely, Sandra Baker.

Coopernook My Town.

Just one look, was all it took, to love Coopernook, friendly faces, some from other places, abound.

I left the city for this emerald valley, of peace & solitude, her thriving history, now a mystery for those who never new.

Oh Coopernook, just one look, was all it took.

A memory of your used to be, somehow it sticks with me, I feel love abound, from the General Store to the bloke next door, the Pub and all around.

Some say why? Others want to try, your lovely surrounds. The peace I've found, cannot be found in many other places.

Oh Coopernook, just one look, was all it took.

On return for me, from the city, makes my heart skip a beat, at the sight of the Manning far below. I'm home at last, no need for my past, here in this lovely town.

So come take a look, at what it took, to turn my heart around. Breathe the fresh air, let go of your cares, and happiness will abound.

Oh Coopernook, Coopernook, just one last look.
