I'm a 53 yr old going on19 who writes songs and filmscape music.All my life I've played some form of musical instrument, and began writing songs in 1975, going on to my first band in 1976 in the Newcastle NSW area. Melbourne is where I call home now. Although I've been an APRA member since 1984, recieving royalties from domestic and international exposure of my music, I've not yet been able to say that I fully support myself through music and the arts, and have never had a recording or publishing deal. I have a personally unique style to my writing and live performance, which many people appreciate, and others can't stand to hear, possibly because they can't pidgeon hole me and I don't aspire to the world of Australian (American) Idol. The umbrella name for my projects is The You Yangs, which will have different "homes" for the variety of projects/bands within my website, www.youyangs.com.au. I have a spot at www.myspace.com/the youyangs. Due to health issues and surgery, I've been out of the loop for the last year or so, and am now updating all my portals for viral marketing etc. One of my aspirations is to have a recording and/or distribution deal with the ABC.
